David, I thought I should share this finding with you regarding the SDA church. Ellen White knew that in the last days the church would sway from the original foundations of which the church was built on. But she stresses the following: MR311 - The Remnant Church; Its Organization, Authority, Unity and Triumph (1934) Section 1 - The Church and it's Foundation
The Church The Beloved Of God
God is leading out a people. He has a chosen people, a church on the earth, whom He has made the depositaries of His law. He has committed to them sacred trust and eternal truth to be given to the world. He would reprove and correct them. The message to the Laodiceans is applicable to Seventh-day Adventists who have had great light and have not walked in the light. It is those who have made great profession, but have not kept in step with their Leader, that will be spewed out of His mouth unless they repent. The message to pronounce the Seventh-day Adventist Church Babylon, and call the people of God out of her, does not come from any heavenly messenger, or any human agent inspired by the Spirit of God. {MR311 5.1}
The True Witness says, "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne" (Rev. 3:18-21). 6 {MR311 5.2}
I Rebuke and Chasten Jesus is coming in to give the individual members of the church the richest blessings, if they will open the door to Him. He does not once call them Babylon, nor ask them to come out. But He says, "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten" (with messages of reproof and warning) (Rev. 3:19). These reproofs I am not ignorant of. I have given warnings because the Spirit of the Lord has constrained me to do so, and have uttered reproofs because the Lord has given me words of reproof. I have not shunned to declare the whole counsel of God, which has been given me for the church. {MR311 6.1}
I will say in the fear and love of God, I know the Lord has thoughts of love and mercy to restore and heal them of all their backslidings. He has a work for His church to do. They are not to be pronounced Babylon, but to be as the salt of the earth, the light of the world. They are to be the living messengers to proclaim a living message in these last days. . . . {MR311 6.2}
The Church Not to Be Broken Up
Again I say, The Lord hath not spoken by any messenger who calls the church that keeps the commandments of God, Babylon. True, there are tares with the wheat; but Christ said He would send His angels to first gather the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into the garner. I know that the Lord loves His church. It is not to be disorganized or broken up into independent atoms. There is not the least consistency in this; there is not the least evidence that such a thing will be. Those who shall heed this false message and try to leaven others will be deceived and prepared to receive advanced delusions, and they will come to nought. 7 {MR311 6.3}
There is in some of the members of the church, pride, self-sufficiency, stubborn unbelief, and a refusing to yield their ideas, although evidence may be piled upon evidence which makes the message to the Laodicean church applicable. But that will not blot out the church that it will not exist. Let both tares and wheat grow together until the harvest. Then it is the angels that do the work of separation. {MR311 7.1}
I warn the Seventh-day Adventist Church to be careful how you receive every new notion and those who claim to have great light. The character of their work seems to be to accuse and to tear down. . . . {MR311 7.2}
Let the believers heed the voice of the angel who has said to the church, "Press together." In unity is your strength. Love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. God hath a church, and Christ hath declared, "The gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). The messengers the Lord sends bear the divine credentials. I have tender feelings toward you, but come to the light, I beseech of you.--Letter 16, 1893. (Published in Selected Messages, book 2, pp. 66-69.) {MR311 7.3}
It is not safe to seperate from the church; but rather, within the church it is safe and to press together. Know that there are false teachings being taught, and it doesn't hurt to bring these to light - Then it is the angels that do the work of separation. Since my finding of this site, I have had my nose in the Bible, this site and the writings of Ellen White to find and confirm what you have here (I still have far to go). But I am finding this one important message: Don't seperate yourself from the church. I hear one preacher say regarding false teaching within the church: "You eat the watermelon and spit out the seeds." Meaning, find the truth and eat of it... but that which isn't meant to be eaten (false teaching); spit it out. I haven't finished reading your entire site; but I hope you didn't separate yourself from the church.... and I haven't found in Ms. White's writings what we are to do if the church kicks us out. I am still looking for this. Thanks for reading/listening... finding this was very helpful to me... I pray the members of my church don't try to kick me out for my new understanding of the false doctrine of the Trinity. Brian

I just wanted to note that I am currently reading your post about "Don't call the church babylon?" (http://www.elijah144.com/dontcallthechurchba.htm) I see what you mean so far as what I've read. Every jot and tittle has it's place and time.

Hi Bryan,
I'm glad you are recognizing the truth of the gospel and God and his son. All of those quotes are very important, and they do apply to Gods true church. However God's church is no longer the General Conference organization.
My skype is "Elijah Message" My facebook is "www.facebook.com/david144
I've met several brothers and sisters like yourself who want to do all that they can for their brothers and sisters. Please carefully read that article. And any questions I would be more than happy to answer.
How did you find the article "Don't call the church Babylon". It was funny you mentioned that one since I just did that study with someone a couple nights ago. I have to make some grammar corrections in it. But it was originally written to the pastor of my church and reworked. Anyways, look forward to getting to know you.

Hi David. I've been doing searched through the online egwestate database. I've got you added as a facebook friend; you'll find me as the one posting all of my findings in my status (doing my best to spread the word of truth to friends and family... hopefully with some tact... sometime I lack in that department. I guess I get a bit overzealous about finding Truth). I'll add you to skype as well. You want to hear something sorta funny (and sad)? I happen to have a copy of the SDA church manual. I ran to it last week looking to see when the puplishing date was... 1981 and "God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit" was obviously in it. I was really hoping to have a copy that predated 1980 that didn't have the "Trinity" in it. Oh well; perhaps this Sabbath while I'm at church I'll check out the church library and see what I can find. Brian

BTW: I didn't note on my previous posts that what I found after posting that first post (and that's a lot of posts) is that I did find where Ellen White talks about Kellogg's book as being the "Alpha of Heresy" (which leads one to believe there is an "Omega of Heresy"). Though, I have been reading "Desire of Ages" and Sister White keeps talking about the "Sunday Law" as the "Omega of Heresy". But as I read, I just keep thinking that it is way too obvious. Did not the devil quote the Bible to Jesus in the desert? That leads me to believe he can read. What says that on top of knowing the Bible word for word that he also has read the entire library of Ellen White publishings? So, even as a mere human I can obviously think that if I were in a position like his that I would have some contingency plan. Am I wrong to say that plan would be the "Trinity" doctrine? After all, even my wife who is new to the SDA church has noted that she never hears our Pastor talk about the "Trinity" in that way. But our church is definitely part of the GC... we live pretty close to SilverSpring Md. which is where the GC HQ is. So many/most of the SDA churches in this region are part of the GC and I don't doubt that many/most of them teach the Trinity doctrine. I have talked to someone in our church on the subject and they pointed something out to me after sharing the truth. They mentioned that they believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit the same way I've been convicted to believe and that some other people in the church believe the same. This person didn't find out directly from others that this is the way they believed, but rather with a keen ear just listened to how they approach the subject. In this case she noticed that it was many of the "older generation" that spoke of the truth and that it is many of the younger folk who have accepted the Trinity into the ideals of the church. I just found that interesting and thought I should share. Oh, also, I found this GREAT book on the subject of Ellen White and the Trinity... You will definitely like this if you haven't already added it to your library: Did Ellen G. White change from non-trinitarian to Trinitarian? by: Blair Andrew http://www.scribd.com/doc/28170510/Did-Ellen-G-White-change-from-non-trinitarian-to-Trinitarian
Anyway, I found it to be great reading if you haven't read it yet. Brian
