Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
The Sabbath was the first full day we ever spent with our God. Sanctified, blessed, And Holy, set aside, not for Jews, but for all men.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Labor to enter his rest. This commandment has not just a literal meaning but a spiritual meaning. “Yea, saith the spirit that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them”[Rev 14:13] The spirit of rest which is a constant dependence on Christ in us in work, and on his Holy day. We can’t keep one part and leave the other undone. It was written in Stone. With the word remember, but yet it was forgotten despite Gods commandment. The study and understanding of this is of utmost importance. For it is the “Spirit which seals us”[Eph 1:13]
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Hebrews 4:9[New Testament]
(ISV) There remains, therefore, a Sabbath rest for the people of God. (BBE) So that there is still a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God. (GNB) As it is, however, there still remains for God's people a rest like God's resting on the seventh day. LITV) For he entering into His rest, he himself also rested from his works, as God had rested from His own.
Let noone say to you that this commandment is not in the New Testament or that because love fulfills the law we don’t keep it. This is love that we keep his commandments. And if we have love we will fulfill the law.[Romans 8:4, 3:31]
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Every Sabbath we are reminded and remember that our salvation is the free gift of God and not of works. One who truly understands the Sabbath rest principle can never be labeled a legalist or judged for it or by it.
If we don't wish to keep it we truly are working our way to salvation not putting our trust in God but rather ourselves, and Paul says “Not of ourselves”. In order to serve on any other day we would then have to mould our own idol and create a false impression of God.
Do you truly rest in God and his pure word? Are you quick to pass judgement or condemn others who keep his rest? Sometimes satisfied, Other times discontented? Finding a problem with a true Sabbathkeeper usually comes with a certain dilemma, and unrest in your spirit, a spirit of unbelief.
Yes, those are the Characteristics of a natural man. Who recieveth not of the things of God. For they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them for they are spiritually discerned. And we must understand that “That which is spirit is spirit, and ye must be born again”
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Nebuchannezar set up a statue of himself asking everyone to bow down. Trying to FORCE his UNREST on the people of God. By making them worship the IMAGE which he had set up. A creation of his own works. Upset by a dream he had about a statue, he decided to defy God. And then like Satan try to get everyone else to follow doctrines and commandments of men.
Spiritual rest is part of this great commandment. The spiritual part of this commandment is faith. Faith is rest in Christ. No faith is a spirit of unbelief.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works,
And the man of God is not careful to answer when being asked whom they will worship?? Daniel 3:16, 17.
The Roman church established there own righteousness in every single way.
Jesus said.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
The Pharisees had created there own way. There own righteousness. Creating an image of the true Sabbath Rest principle.
Jesus made it clear what was wrong with their man made righteousness.
Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do
Christians in 34 A.D were under fierce persecution. Stephen was Stoned, and said "Lay not this charge to them" "Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you." “Return evil with good” The Spirit of Rest was in Stephen.
As the Papacy developed they became the force of all Christianity, a persecutor, forcing false worship in every way, violating the principle of the Sabbath Rest. Not only that but by 329 AD, had changed the Seventh Day Sabbath and made it the first day changing Gods times and laws. Daniel 7:25. She had commited fornication with the kings of the earth[Rev 18:2].
True Christianity was never mainstream. The masquerader had said. "I will be like the most high". And his followers were many. Foxes book of Martyrs contains the horrible stories and pictures of those cruel persecutions.
In that time period is recorded "The patience of the Saints who have the Sabbath rest principle". 1260 years the Romans ruled. Till the Deadly wound.
Gross unrest and unbelief. Forced unrest.
The very Keeping of the Sabbath forbids these evils.
Those who have a spurious Sabbath will find themselves in unrest, a void in there soul.
Mat 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
This is done by many Sabbath keepers as well who go to great lengths to teach it. But have yet to accept the Sabbath Rest principle which creates in you a new man. Free from sin and death, hallowing Gods word. The letter killeth. It will beat a person into the ground until he has hate in his heart because he can do nothing of himself. It is by grace through faith that we are saved. Not by trying to keep the letter of the law. True rest involves a constant trust in Gods word and to let it perform in you that which It says. This brings inner peace and rest to the soul.
All things work together for good. Working 6 days as God, and entering that seventh Day Sabbath as he did. Some say it is a burden but have yet to walk by faith. “Then shall thou delight thyself in the LORD”[Isaiah 58:13, 14]
Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God:
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Eze 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign [seal] between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
Isa 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
Isa 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
7 is God's perfect number, the number man is 666. The number of imperfection. The number of a false God.
The second advent is soon. Have you put your faith in God, and entered the true Sabbath. Realizing its a delight. A constant delight. A commandment followed by faith. This faith passes all. Faith cometh by hearing Gods word, and doing Gods word. Then you will know and have true rest in him.
